Houston Texas & Portland Maine—thought-provoking, intercultural, ensemble theatre!
ABOUT OUR FISCAL SPONSOR
Why does NIE have a Fiscal Sponsor?
Next Iteration is a theatre ensemble, a company of actors and theater professionals, in Houston. As such, we need time to develop innovative, original new work and programs. By having a fiscal agent that is a 501c-3 organization we can raise tax deductible* dollars.
Theatre artists get into the business of ensemble work because they love their craft, they have spent hours and years developing their skills and making theatre. This is their profession. But the cost of tickets is unlikely to be able to support the time and efforts it makes to pay artists a living wage for their full time work. So we need investment in our innovation and work.
NIE believes in theater that gives back to its community by developing programs to further the creative and professional life of Houston actors, by making affordable theater accessible to everyone, by bringing theater training to youth and adults, and by creating theater that represents all voices.
By having a fiscal agent that also keeps accounts of our donations and expenses and makes sure we are working within federal parameters as we utilize our funds frees us up to do the creative work that is our mission. Fractured Atlas makes our fundraising information available to us at all times.
The fiscal agent does not solicit funds for NIE or share NIE's information with others except to report all information required by the IRS.
Why did we choose Fractured Atlas?
Fractured Atlas was founded in 1998, when they worked basically in NYC. After 2002, they reinvented themselves and became a much-needed national arts service organization. They now have over 250,000 theater companies, dancers, and artists of all genres as members benefiting from their network of support services. Our Artistic Director began working with Fractured Atlas around 2002 and has consistently found them to be knowledgeable and attuned to the needs of start-up and ongoing arts endeavors. Fractured Atlas's experience and expertise give Next Iteration Ensemble the biggest bang for every dollar we raise.
How much of my donation does Fractured Atlas receive for their services?
Fractured Atlas charges Next Iteration 7% of our donations as a fee for their services. Donors, at the time of their online donation, can have this amount deducted from their gift, or they can add it to their gift. At NIE, we are thrilled to pay this 7%, considering the breadth of services we receive from Fractured Atlas.
